Miners protest in Bolivar state evictions

Caracas .- The miners and traders in the Gran Sabana municipality, in Bolivar state, began a 24-hour stoppage in protest at the government intention to evict more than 5,000 small mining sector Las Cristinas.
This was reported Abelardo Diaz, president of the Federation of cooperation and partnership of Gold and Diamond Miners, the channel Globovision. He added that the protest could spread if they do not receive a satisfactory response by the authorities.
Diaz told that after an initial meeting in which the Ministry of Basic Industries and Mining pledged to paralyse the operations of eviction, the holder of that office, Rodolfo Sanz, has not attended meetings the following guidelines.
The first minister was absent from Saturday, April 26. That meeting was suspended and rescheduled for Wednesday, 30, but neither attended the official. For this reason, the miners decided to leave today to express their dissatisfaction in the streets.
