Breaking News!

Confidential sources are claiming that an announcement will be made early Thursday local time in Caracas effectively capitulating to foreign investor demands for a sense of decency and probity in the long-running saga of the Las Cristinas goldmine. We are told to expect an announcement around 10.00 a.m. but remind readers that President Hugo Chavez Frias has already stated that Venezuela is NOT Switzerland and that riming should traditionally be taken with a massive pinch of salt.
