No kidding, their spokesman is not a miner...He even thinks it's Hecla's fault that some of the miners have backaches.

"We want the company (Hecla) to be taken into government control (nationalized) as quickly as possible, for a variety of reasons, including harrassment, but also because of the level of insecurity that exists at the mine. One worker fractured a leg when a roof fell in on him. Others have suffered hernias, lung complaints back problems and, besides, we were getting only a miserable Bs.F.390 per fortnight and we never received any production bonus although Hecla has been producing gold for almolst six years."

And you won't like to hear this, but it's worse than you thought..that's 35.2 oz. per ton and no wonder the miners want it all for themselves (and don't they deserve it?...especially those protesting 40 that shut the mine down!) I think they just want a bonus....who doesn't?

1kg=2.2 lb X 16oz/1 1b. = 35.2 oz
