Three out of 10 Venezuelans put the blame on Chávez
Who do you think is the ultimate responsible for the country's problems? According to the last Omnibus report authored by pollster Datanálisis, three out of 10 Venezuelans, or 30.1 percent, hold President Hugo Chávez accountable.
Insecurity still ranks first in the list of major troubles. A total of 51.4 percent of Venezuelans views increasing crime as their primary concern. In the meantime, the main problem for 12 percent of people is unemployment. One year ago, 23 percent of Venezuelans considered unemployment as the main handicap.
A perceived improvement in labor does not diminish the concern about the cost of living, as 8.9 percent of Venezuelans think it is their principal inconvenience. One year ago, only 2.8 percent regarded inflation a matter of concern.
Since the weeks before the referendum on the constitutional reform, political self-definition of Venezuelans has not changed. According to Datanálisis, which collected the data for its Omnibus survey from April 14 to 28, 27.6 percent of Venezuelans are pro-government; 18.7 percent is at odds with President Hugo Chávez; 46 percent would rather not to take sides and 7.7 percent, different from political lack of definition, refrained from answering.
