Neighbors of El Peñón call to repeal law

Cumana .- Juan Carlos Albeláez leader defender of the environment of Sucre state, accompanied by a group of neighbours in the community of The Rock, urged national authorities and the National Assembly to repeal the Law of exploration and exploitation of Mineral Resources Non-Metallic, which was enacted in 2006 by the Legislative Council of Sucre state.
The reporters believed that this legal instrument "is made to the extent of the quarry and Sandboxes and frank dissonance with national laws governing this area."
They criticised that the Governor has the exclusive right to grant concessions for the exploitation of sand on the banks of rivers of Sucre state, "so capitalist, irrational and arbitrary".
Neighbors of El Penon met recently to discuss paa also installing a new quarry near the cemetery of this community.
They called that already exists another quarry in the same area, which emanates large amounts of dust and is affecting the health of residents.
Exhortation
"We ask the Minister of Environment, Yubirí Ortega, to take appropriate action. Do not give one centimeter or to pressure from quarry and Sandboxes of Sucre, who are accustomed to exploit this resource without any rule or regulation officer, causing irreversible damage to exploit this resource without any rule or regulation officer, "said neighbors.
They assured further that several employers who exploit sand seduce their workers with high salaries, to count on their support and their families.
