I think that there is genuine concern for the forest in VZ. This concern may or may not be appropriate where the Las Cristinas project is concerned, but I do believe it is genuine. Like it or not, projects like LC and Brisas have significant impact.

If Crystallex combined with other miners, community groups, gov't bodies etc. to come up with a plan to actively grow the forest (plant two trees for everyone that's cut kind of thing) and improve the environment with remediation of existing damage (which is apparently extensive) then they could garner critical support for their project. Ortega would still come out smelling like a rose and everybody benefits. We could get our mine.

There is an opportunity here to show leadership and a strong sense of civic responsibility.
