*** RUSSIAN FINANCE MINISTRY CONFIRMS TALKS WITH VENEZUELA ON SETTING UP
BANK
Russia and Venezuela did discuss the possibility of setting up a
Russian-Venezuelan bank, Russia's Deputy Finance Minister Dmitry Pankin
told journalists.
"There have been such proposals from Venezuela, and the issue was
discussed several times," he said.
Russia asked Venezuela to reply to a number of questions, in
particular, how the bank's capital would be formed and how large it
would be, what would be the duties and operations to be carried out by
the bank, and also why other financial institutions would not be able to
perform these duties. "So far we have not received their reply," Pankin
said.
