DJ Canada Hot Stocks: CI Financial, Crystallex
Among the companies whose shares are making notable moves in Friday's session are CI Financial Income Fund (CIX.UN.T) and Crystallex International Corp. (KRY).
CI Financial Income Fund (CIX.UN.T, C$22.42, C$1.45, 6.9%) said it has held talks with a number of parties in recent months regarding possible strategic combinations. It said it won't comment further on "rumors and speculation." Citing sources, the National Post reported Friday that Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) is in talks to sell its mutual-fund division to CI in exchange for a big equity stake in the money manager.
Crystallex International Corp. (KRY, C$1.12, -C$0.10, -8.2%) received an official letter from the Venezuelan Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources in response to the report Crystallex submitted on modifications to the Las Cristinas project. The ministry has reviewed the report submitted by Crystallex and finds that the proposals it contains are viable and confirm to government guideline, the company said.
