Business in Venezuela

Both KRY and GRZ have more employees and more offices in Venezuela than they have in any other country. That should make them Venezuelan companies if you want to use that sort of logic.

I really don't thing that Hugo cares much if the companies are North American or not; he has other priorities. He tends to get carried away with grandious "investment" schemes involving various countries depending on where he happened to visit last and was recieved as a "hero".

A couple of years ago it was China, but little came of that; later it was Iran but I don't see much happening on the ground in Venezuela with Iranian labels on it.

He also made overtures to his local region in South America, but they seem to be rather distant now he has nationalised their companies and insulted various local leaders and nothing really "concrete" resulted.

Now it's Russia who are listening politely while taking his money for arms; not much going into Ven through from Russia except what they bought. Rusoro's money comes from Canada and London, despite their shiny "Made in Russia" label...

Hugo tried to get Spain on board with his guarantee to sell his oil to Spain at $100, but that's no longer cheap for the heavy crude Ven produces. Besides Spain has no money to invest anywhere; they are an economic basket case. While he seems to be able to gain attention while he's giving something away or buying something for cask, none of his "friends" seem to be actually very interested in actually investing real money in Venezuela.

While Hugo is globetrotting making a name for himself, the little charades at home continue without progress, production or employment. Someone is likely getting rich and the Russians are doing the best as they understand as part of their business culture how to get favours and do deals based on the contents of unmarked bags of pieces of paper slipped under the table during "negotiations".............
