Sunep-CVG and Sural require the presence of the minister Sanz
Thursday, 02 October 2008

Today, at 11:00 am, is planned a crucial meeting between the president of the CVG and the representation of employees, which would end the conflict or on the contrary it seriously.

Rumors of a possible dismissal of the Minister of Basic Industries and Mining, Rodolfo Sanz, have created uncertainty in the workforce. The workers grouped in the National Single Union of Public Employees (Sunep-CVG) and the Trade Union of Employees of Sural, require the presence, as agreed, the minister Sanz at the meeting scheduled for this Thursday.

Juan Gomez, secretary-general of Sunep CVG called for the minister Rodolfo Sanz, to fulfill the commitment. "We want to meet with him, not with the advisers," he added.

According to Gomez, the debt in question dates back two years ago. The conflict is summarized in the labor liabilities, such as failure to improvements in evaluations, travel time and the rate of profits.

The secretary general of Sunep appealed to all employees of the corporation to concentrate on building the headquarters of CVG to receive, what they call, the positive response from the minister as to their requests.

"The commitment to the president was treated at 11:00 am, we're not going to be expecting more of the time scheduled, we know that the President is going to be here in Guyana inaugurating a Fitven, workers do not want excuses , "Said Gomez.

Inspectorate in silence
Both Gomez and Isaac Lopez, secretary general of the Trade Union of Employees of Sural, urged the Labor Inspectorate to stop the delay of delivery.

Lopez expressed concern over the feeling that silence lies not only in business but guardians of the CVG in the Inspectorate. "We view with concern how the employer violates and fails so vile labor rights of workers, up from the gaze of the Labor Inspectorate, the body responsible for ensuring and realize the benefits and rights of workers," added Lopez.

They called for the retraining to stop what they consider a violation of the Labor Act and therefore the workers.

Ultimatum
The employees added that although there are rumors about a possible linkage of their situation with the elections on November 23, prefer to dismiss what happens in work has some connection with the political level. They reiterated their desire that is not going to strike but that if this is the last step to follow, they will do so, since according to the contractual benefits the workers are respected and fulfilled, and that is why they are fighting.
