Within the framework of the implementation of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas Cuba and Venezuela of the Convention, will be implemented on an experimental, a protocol called "Project Recovery Areas Damaged by Mining in the Caroni River Basin, IkabarĂș basin ", through a participatory and dynamic community coordinated by the Ministry of People's Power for Science and Technology (MPPCT) through its representative in the state, FUNDACITE Bolivar.
The completion of this project meets the need to integrate the diversity and dispersion of experience in the issue of recovery of degraded areas by mining activities in the basin of the Rio Caroni, on the part of many state agencies and cooperatives. It is important to mention that the project is divided into several phases, the first was for the selection of actors and parameters that would establish goals and objectives, and in the second phase will join efforts of a multidisciplinary team confomado by ecologists, geographers, among other specialists in the area, as well as other institutions among which are: the National Power Corporation - Corpoelec, CVG - Scientific Station Parupa, CVG Tecmin, Ingeominas, Bolivar Mine Autonomous Institute (IAMIB), DEA Bolivar, and the National University Imparques Experimental de Guayana (UNEG).
