Ciudad Guayana, Bolívar state, 18 Nov. ABN .- A call to a group of
miners who remain hostage since Monday, six officials from the
Venezuelan Guayana Corporation (CVG) became the director of Mining Concessions the Ministry of People's Power for Basic Industry and Mining (Mibam) Rodolfo Vilchez) .

In a press conference hosted at the headquarters of the CVG in Puerto Ordaz, the official deplored the protest action staged by miners from the town Raúl Leoni, who on Monday decided to retain its offices in a group of officials in the offices of Mibam, on Avenida Libertador Ciudad Bolivar.

These miners demanding immediate payment of a bond of 10 billion bolivars unique strengths offered to each of them for his buyout of the Caura River Basin, the main tributary of the Caroni River, and their conversion to take on other work activities other than mining Illegal gold and diamonds.

In this regard, Vilchez reiterated the announcement by the national government, through the Mibam, that on Thursday, Nov. 20 was canceled the first checks to the miners, at an event to be held at the Parc Leonardo Ruiz Pineda, in Ciudad Bolivar, with the presence of the owner of Mibam, Rodolfo Sanz bolivarense and the governor, Francisco Rangel Gomez.

On Friday the delivery will continue to act in another place in the
town of La Paragua, in the municipality Raúl Leoni.

This release will benefit 6 thousand 072 miners who live in
municipalities Heres, Raúl Leoni, Sifontes and El Callao, who were
surveyed in the process of withdrawal of the Caura and Caroni Basin and its partial relocation in areas authorized by the State
Venezuelan.

To meet this financial commitment, the government allocated a special Mibam by the order of the 60 million strong bolivars.

Additionally, during the events presided over by Minister Sanz and
Governor Rangel Gomez handed 53 credits for a total of 7 million 800 thousand strong bolivars to cooperatives and associations of ex- miners who now work in tourism, agriculture, fisheries and
construction.

Similarly, Rodolfo Vilchez charged that the violent protest and
retention of staff in Ciudad Bolivar is promoted by a small group of
artisanal miners, politically motivated by people linked to the
command of the campaign of opposition candidate for governor of
Bolivar, Andres Velasquez.

He reiterated that the majority of artisanal miners have remained
calm on Thursday and expect to start receiving the payment of this
bonus single, ending a process of conversion work begun in 2006, when the government banned totally gold mining in the basin of the Caroni and Caura rivers.

"This small group trying to promote chaos among the miners and
reached as far as to kidnap officials, in addition to retaining units
of public transport and take by assault the offices of Mibam,"
Vilchez said.

He explained that among the hostages is the Executive Vice President of the CVG and ex-deputy of the Legislative Council of Bolivar, Alfredo Arcila, who along with five other officers have been deprived of food and water since Monday morning.

In this regard, he noted that authorities had received a complaint
about this case, which is investigating whether the kidnapping of
officials and political sectors involved in this.
