why do they call it a "special day"?

GW, the English translation is "special day." The only significance of that date is that it is a make-up day for those displaced, though illegal, miners that have agreed to stop exploiting Las Cristinas to receive their checks if they could not make it during the first two days of distribution of those checks. I have not seen any hint of any other significance to that date. Until there has been a significant, good faith effort to distribute all the checks I do not believe the VZ government can allow KRY to begin mining. My take is that during the now infamous radio interview, Sanz revealed we won't receive the permit until 2009 - but we will receive it.
