Before the Assembly denounce irregularities in Inparques
They ask for an investigation into the failure to pay to park rangers

More than 700 complaints accumulate representatives of the Environmental Defense Brigade Warairarepano about irregularities in the El Avila National Park. It was in October 2003 when it sent the first request for aid to the then Minister of Environment, Ana Elisa Osorio, but so far have received no response from this or any other agency.

It is for this reason that members of the environmental organization today to attend the National Assembly to request a right to speak before the deputy Porfirio Hernandez, chairman of the subcommittee on Management of the Environment, said Leonardo Arjona, coordinator general of the Defense Brigade Warairarrepano.

Arjona says that complaints are against Inparques are several: diversion of resources, wage debts outstanding for three years, as well as environmental illegal logging and smuggling of wild flora and fauna.

According to members of the Brigade Warairarepano failure to pay the rangers has generated absence at checkpoints, which in turn has allowed the advance of the invasions. Arjona detailed in the sector The Esplanade (Guatire), as well as the height of La Rosa and Birongo have been reported illegal.

"The resources of Inparques are being used for the beautification of Caracas and parks are left without money for their upkeep," Arjona complaint, who then explains that for three years was delivered no tools or the staff uniforms, so the maintenance work of the Roads is almost zero, thus contributing to soil erosion.

With today's meeting expected the National Assembly to take on board the accusations and rape of six laws, including the National Constitution and the Law on Forests and Forest Management, adopted on June 5 this year.

The dismissal of the current directors of Inparques and Yubirí Ortega, minister of Environment, are some of the actions required in the National Assembly. It also sought to investigate where the resources for the payment of wages and funds for maintenance. Finally ask for the appointment of a commission to declare the environmental emergency throughout the country and the immediate stoppage of environmental illegal.

These requests will also be supported by users of the park. Yesterday was the second Sunday in which the Warairarepano Brigade, together with other organizations, collected signatures for the defense of the national park. Until yesterday 242 "complainants" as the preferred call Arjona, had joined the list.
