Venezuelan oil basket falls to USD 31.36

The average price of the Venezuelan oil barrel ended the week at USD 31.36, showing a USD 3.03 decrease compared to the average oil price in the previous week, reported on Friday the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum on its website.

The ministry said that "the weekly price of Venezuela's crude oil ended lower amid the prospect that the slowdown of global economy will lead to a dramatic low in energy consumption during 2009."

"However, during the past few days, oil prices have rebounded due to expectations surrounding the meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries which is expected to approve a further cut in oil output to stabilize the oil market."

The yearly average price of the Venezuelan oil basket lowered to USD 89.88, including this week's results.
