Venezuela increases gold production

Caracas, December 27 (PL) Venezuela produced four thousand 300 kilograms of gold in 2008 and expects to double production of ore next year, reported today by President Hugo Chávez.


In opening an institution for people in extreme poverty, Chavez said that the country is regaining some concessions given to companies that illegally took much of the production.



The Venezuelan leader estimated that double the national production of precious mineral is removed illegally, a trend that is fighting against his government.



In 2007, Venezuela imposed a record gold production of just over four thousand kilograms, the highest production figure achieved in the 37-year history of the State General Mining Company.



For this 2008 the company had an estimated production of four thousand 280 kilos of gold, along with plans for technological adaptation to the system of two activated carbon plants.
