I am not sure if there is confusion of the rating system here, but...

Stars are for your overall opinion of the poster. You can change it at anytime.

The individual post is given a "Thumbs-Up" and is at the lower right of the posting. this basically says that the post is worth reading, not that you agree or disagree with the poster. You cannot change it once you recommend it.
