Government will take control of the diamond zone Guaniamo

02:15 PM Caracas .- The Government will take in the coming days Guaniamo diamond area in the south, to set up a diamond processing plant, said Monday the Minister of Basic Industries and Mining (Mibam).

The rights in the area are being settled by the Supreme Court after the Government terminated the concession for more than a decade was held by a joint venture tied to the U.S. Mining Co. Guaniamo

"We will take Guaniamo within 15 days. When I say take it literally take the camp Guanimo to begin installing the processing plant there," said the minister Rodolfo Sanz state television.

The official added that the award is invalid for lack of activity and that therefore the ministry has the right to act on it, said Reuters.

Recently, President Hugo Chávez announced that his government with the help of the Russian-Rusoro exploit the huge Las Cristinas gold deposit, which the Canadian Crystallex waited years for a permit to develop.
