I've been saying (and posting) for quite some time that Polyus will probably end up with Las Cristinas once Crystallex's position is confirmed/resolved. I agree that it is too risky to wade in ahead of the permit - if Hugo does not grant the permit, Polyus will move on. I can see a situation where Gold Fields and Polyus both want LC (and Crystallex), but not until our project is a go. This would be an ideal situation for KRY shareholders if this were to pan out. A high share price can make one forget the bad times in a hurry.
If Hugo wants the Russians (the REAL Russians) at Cristinas, granting the permit to Crystallex would be a good first step.
