CARACAS, ene 22 (Reuters) - Venezuela continues without deciding on the
exploitation of the gigantic deposit of gold The Cristinas, for what signed
years ago a contract with the Canadian one Crystallex, although the Government
said does little that would develop it with the Russian-Canadian firm Rusoro.

The president Hugo Chávez said a week ago that the business mixed VenRus would exploit the deposit, that counts on reserves reckoned of 35.2 million ounces.

"The Venezuelan State has the sovereign disposition to exercise control on its
deposits of strategic minerals (...) that does not exclude any form of relation,
of association in each case we will study which will be the relation", Thursday
said the minister of Basic Industries and mining Industry, Rodolfo Sanz.

It interrogated on if Crystallex <KRY TO> It would leave the project, after to
have expected during years the environmental permissions to develop it, affirmed
"I have not said that". "When we have a decision we will communicate himself it
to whom he have that to communicate it to him", he added.

The miner had assured that had not received a new instruction of Caracas, what
the minister confirmed.

With respect to the operation of Rusoro in Venezuela, Sanz said that its
activities develop in other areas.

"Rusoro is not put in The Cristinas, The Cristinas is of the Venezuelan State
(...) we are associated with Rusoro in RusVen, and RusVen is working with us in
The Fight and in Isidora", stated.
