Convened through Facebook and Twitter
'No more Chávez' protest to take place tomorrow in 80 cities

The protest against Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, convened through the social networks Facebook and Twitter, will take place tomorrow in more than 80 cities in 30 countries, dedicating the phrase "Why don't you be quiet? Global" to the leader, members of the organization confirmed today.

"The famous phrase ‘Why don't you be quiet?' that King Juan Carlos of Spain said to Chávez summarizes everything we would like to express," sentenced Alejandro Guitiérrez, spokesman for the promotors.

The initiative was born from the indignation of four groups of young people after Chávez's declarations made last August 23 in his Sunday programme "Aló, Presidente," in which he accused Colombians of being "traitors" and asked them to join his "Bolivarian doctrine."

Relations between Colombia and Venezuela have ceased thanks to Chávez, who responded in this manner to the weapons found in possession of the Colombian guerrilla and which proceeded from Venezuela, and to an agreement through which the US will be able to use Colombian military bases.

The event organizers used Facebook and Twitter to convene a march, named "No more Chávez," which has reached more than 30 countries and has received the support of more than a million people in less than a week.

Various groups from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Uruguay, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela have confirmed they will organize the protests.

In the US the march will be supported in at least 18 cities, and participants have also been confirmed in Canada, South Africa, Australia, Germany, Austria, Spain, France Holland, England, Norway, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Nelly Marcela Garzón, one of the event coordinators, highlighted that in the Facebook group between 5 to 10 people register per second, which is, by her judgement, "a call record."
