It was yesterday prevented to give the information us to the town
Sunday, 15 of November of 2009

The official company Corpoelec realised at night of Friday and until Saturday a selective and surprise cut of electrical energy in the sector where it is soothes of Mail of the Caroní, in the Urbanization Villa Colombia, Ordaz Port.
The procedure of cuts selective realised this time was radical, creating a situation of greater force so that our newspaper could not be published, in a condemnable action of abuse authority against the independent press.

*** This Saturday was the second time that the emblematic newspaper of Guayana did not circulate because of the electrical faults. First he was the 29 of April of 2008.

*** Inhabitants of Caroní repudiaron the fact that energy problems prevented that the newspaper arrived at its hands and demanded to Corpoelec a better service.

By several hours it remained in the dark and without energy the mass media
A happened electrical fault in one of the underground branches of circuit 9, in Ordaz Port, prevented that Mail of the Caroní arrived yesterday at the hands of the town of Guayana City.

Near the 12:00 at night of this Saturday an electrical fault took place that left to Villa Colombia without electrical service until approximately the 4:00 in the morning, when the service was restored, nevertheless was not but until the 8:30 in the morning when the light arrived at this newspaper, the School San Pablo and the Commercial Center Venezuela.

A nonauthorized source of Corpoelec explained that the problem was originated “in one of the branches and the underground circuit, that have long time reason why they are susceptible to faults”.

It indicated that the failure took place “apparently” by the accumulation of much humidity in the branch. It said that it is situation can be generated by several factors, between which they emphasize, some obstructions in the drainages of the rainwater, as well as that “many commerce located in the zone has constructed their water-drainages and instead of to do them towards the culverts of rainwater they do, it towards tanquillas electrical”.

It added that the obstructed drainages and the one that the commercial water-drainages supposedly take water towards tanquillas electrical produced the conditions so that there was in the cellar of the branch “much humidity”.

It releases delay
Although the information of Mail of the Caroní were ready to be printed this Saturday, before the sudden suspension of the electrical service the newspaper did not arrive at the public, who went to soothes to know why its newspaper had not circulated today.

The electrical cut happened at a time where the national system is in judgment fabric, before the constant blackouts and the measures imposed by the Government for “avoiding” the burst of energy.

According to the nonauthorized civil servant to declare the delay to repair the damage it had that for being an underground fault the detection of the same took “a little more”, than what could comparativily be that with the aerial circuits. “Those Are many cellars that there are to review to be finding where it happened the fault”, it affirmed the civil servant to justify the delay in the replacement of the electrical service.

It affirmed that permanently they work to avoid that they are continued producing electrical faults. “First the network is being taken care of aerial and soon it will go away with the underground one”, expressed.

It is not the first time
In the last years electrical faults have taken place that, in at least two occasions, they have avoided that Mail of the Caroní goes out normally to inform to the guayaneses.

“Sabotage against the Mail” reflected the main holder of mass media of the 26 of June of the 2006, when identified people did not disconnect the high tension cables that supplied energy to mass media and the Commercial Center Venezuela.

In that one opportunity the electrical service was suspended near the 10:00 at night. One of the technicians of Cadafe, expressed: “this is sabotage, is no doubt. They only affected the lines that the Mail and the Commercial Center feed, did not take to no equipment nor lack nothing. It had to be people who know of this and came to cut the provision to them”.

In spite of that one action against the freedom of information, Mail of the Caroní could go out with its anniversary edition, after an arduous work.

The 28 of April of a 2008 fire in the Ordaz Substation left without electrical energy by more than 24 hours to several sectors of the city, including the community of Villa Colombia and Correo of the Caroní.

In that opportunity, the mass media could not circulate the 29 of April because the electrical service was not resumed, returning to the street the 30 of the same month.

Message to Guayana

“The official company Corpoelec did not allow the printed circulation, nor in the Web of Mail of the Caroní, this Saturday. A reported electrical fault to the 12:00 of the dawn, that until recent hours had not been solved, prevented that the emblematic newspaper of Guayana had contact with its readers today, being violated therefore the right to the information, consecrated in article 58 of the National Constitution”, expressed the message placed in the vestibule Web of this metropolitan newspaper to explain to the readers the cause of the informative absence in Guayana City yesterday.
