Managers of the Union of Mining Workers of Guayana (Untramingua) alert of a possible closing of the mining companies of the group Rusoro Mining, because of the resolution of the Central bank of Venezuela (of 16 June 2009) that forces the deprived companies to offer the 60 percent of the auriferous production to this bank to the official exchange rate.

Douglas Oaks, Secretary General of the union, indicated that the operative costs of the auriferous companies of the transnational Russian prevent to generate gains with these conditions of the BCV.

On the contrary the obligation to sell the 60 percent to the emitting being and 10 to national the market sentence to the orerator from deposits to a technical closing, that would leave without use more than 1,200 direct employees and 5 thousand indirect ones.

“We are to the doors of a great crisis and we become echo of the preoccupation that there is. The past Tuesday we went until the BCV to look for answers from Jose Khan and we could not be taken care of by him, but it commanded to advisers. They promised to us to take care of to us the week incoming, if it is not therefore a good number of miners we move there until demanding answers”.

Long agony
For months the company Promotora Minera Guayana (PMG) and all the employees of the Russian group have been in “three and two” in the hope of a modification of the measurement, that allows to maintain the limits of gains necessary to operate the plants and to fulfill the benefits of the workers.

In spite of the numerous reclamations nothing has been still made to preserve the stability of the miners of the south, whose unique possibility of use, leaving to a side to Minerven and the mayorships, is PMG and their brother companies.

Manuel Mendoza, main spokesman of the communal advice Loma Linda of the municipality Callao, comments that the 56 communal organizations of the locality are suffering the situation of the Rusoro group, that in his opinion is like “a small mayorship” because through them they canalize projects of social interest, that often are misestimated by the institutions of the state.

Static projects
“They are killing the company. We have several projects to do in the communities and that is paralyzed because the company does not have how to fulfill to us. We are going to accompany to the union Caracas to demand that the resolution is changed and if is to spend Christmases we pass them there”, indicated.

On the other hand, Gregorio Lozada, secretary of finances of Untramingua, stressed the preoccupation by the future of the jobs and informed that the company had to give collective vacations from the 1 of December to lower the labor load, while waits for an exit from the government.

Union demands that the resolution is modified and that instead of being a 60 percent for the BCV and 10 for the internal market percentage similar to certain for the companies with estadal capital, which they can offer 25 percent to the BCV, 25 to the internal market settle down and 50 percent for the export.
