The Chilean Foreign Ministry urged the Venezuelan government to expedite the payment of USD 80 million to about 50 Chilean companies that have done business in the Caribbean country and have not received any payment so far, said on Friday Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.
The complaint was made through a letter, the third communication sent by the Chilean Foreign Ministry with the same purpose in the last six months, according to the newspaper.
In the letters, the Chilean government asks Venezuela to expedite the payments to companies such as airline Lan Chile; wine producers such as Concha y Toro, San Pedro, Valdivieso and Tabalí, together with food companies Córpora tres montes, Intereseafood and Carozzi, among others, AFP reported.
The payments have been delayed by problems with Venezuela's Foreign Exchange Administration Commission (Cadivi).
