Venezuela Understands Iran's Struggle Against Western Imperialism.

February 12, 2010 (Hamsayeh.Net) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez congratulated the Iranian people for their achievements in the field of nuclear science and on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

Chavez speaking at a municipal theatre in Caracas, told the audience that every sovereign nation should take advantage of all the peaceful benefits of nuclear technology and for this very reason his country is already conducting studies toward this goal. ‘When we begin to develop our nuclear power as we will do, they will put their eyes on us and will say Chavez is building an atomic bomb,’ Presna Latina quoted Chavez as saying.

Chavez also reassured those who might be concerned about such program saying, ‘Venezuela does not need any weapons of mass destruction as we already have one, the Socialist Party and a united people.’

In his remarks about Western bullying against Iran, Chavez said, ‘Venezuela clearly understands the struggle of Iran, because it is the same struggle for sovereignty. We must continue rejecting the claim of Yankee imperialism from the U.S. which seeks to prevent the economic and energy development in Iran.’

Western corporate driven capitalist countries, particularly the United States have been at loggerheads with Bolivarian inspired revolutionary government of Venezuela and other Latin American states, since large corporations could no longer sack the riches of Latin America as cheaply as they did in the past.

Venezuela is a leading member of OPEC and one of the world’s largest holders of crude oil.
