BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says Venezuela' socialist government should adopt a more moderate political stance similar to administrations in Brazil and Chile.
Clinton during a visit to Brazil said the United States wants Venezuela's government to restore what she called "full democracy." She didn't mention the name of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, an avowed socialist and frequent U.S. critic.
Clinton also called Wednesday for Venezuela "to restore freedom of the press, to restore private property and return to a free market economy."
And she said the U.S. believes Venezuela is limiting freedom for its people. Brazil and Chile both have center-leftist administrations.
