...assuming there is a legal (i.e. SEC) requirement....we get a Press Release one way or the other by 5:00 pm today. The question seems to be whether the SEC (and\or the Canadian equivalent) requires a press release in the event that the deal is not "done 'n dusted" by 5:00 pm given previous public disclosure of the July 31, 5:00 pm deal deadline.
