Members of the National Workers Union, including the governing trade unions, marched yesterday in support of the Workers' Control and Socialist Guiana Plan. But progress was marred by violence in the main gate of the CVG, when a group of ruling party leaders clashed with Class B shareholders of Sidor, who for the time required to be attended by representatives of the corporation.
In the official march, workers participated recently nationalized companies such as Sidetur, cold, Graphite Orinoco Venprecar, Matesi, Orinoco Iron, Copal, among others, also members of workers' control of Sidor, Alcasa, Bauxilum, Cabelum, Ferrominera and other basic business Guayana.
However, the demonstration was also attended by community councils in the area, the unemployed, the president of Alcasa, Elio Sayago and the newly elected National Assembly deputy, Nancy Ascencio.
The march began shortly after 8:00 am in front of Refrigerators Ordaz (cold) located in Unare, where over 300 people set off in convoy across the Caroni ride, shouting slogans and expressing support for President Chavez.
Shareholders requiring attention
Concurrent to this event, a group of about 50 Class B shareholders of Sidor, remained on the outskirts of the CVG in order to deliver a document, which demanded a meeting with the head of the agency, to request money back to those who decided to retire from the company.
But at the time of demand to be treated, showed up the demonstrators, who had the same goal: Reach the CVG for delivery of a document, this time expressing support for the policies implemented by President Chavez in companies Guayana.
Within seconds, the shareholders have created a barrier to prevent the passage of Chavez 'to the main building of the CVG, which creates a confrontation between the parties, which culminated in blows and insults.
Despite the National Guard presence on the site, this did nothing to prevent violence, on the contrary, the situation worsened after the gate was opened CVG to give you access to workers.
Alleged sabotage
They repudiated the attitude of shareholders, blaming the fact Peter Acuna and Victor Moreno, who described as "squalid and saboteurs."
However Acuña, who is the representative of shareholders in the Board of Sidor visibly affected by the situation expressed his annoyance by ensuring that facts have repeatedly gone to the CVG for an answer, but have never been addressed.
"Today is demonstrated once again the violation of constitutional principles in the CVG, where even at 51 we have been demonstrating civic opportunities facing the corporation and we never wanted to attend, we excluded, while on the other hand it serves a group of Venezuelans who support an ideological model, which we do not share, "said Acuña.
Once in the inner parking CVG continued the round of bickering, which ended after the vice president of CVG, Haydee Valenzuela, down from his office to serve the government demonstrators, while welcomed them and thanked them for supporting the revolution.
With respect to dissatisfaction made by shareholders, Valenzuela said they were never closed the doors in the corporation, "Pedro Acuña and Pedro Rondón have been treated by me, by the Minister at a meeting of shareholders in Caracas and the legal adviser Sidor, and has answered them, "he said.
Fortunately, the fact did not go farther, the demonstrators who supported workers' control took delivery of that document and the parties subsequently voluntarily left the place.
