There's a famous incident involving a state visit by a high level N. Korean govt visit to Seoul. Usually, leaders of closed societies know exactly what is going on in the rest of the world. They generally travel widely, and import the best of everything back to their own digs. In North Korea, it seems that is not the case. When the N. Korean motorcade from the airport to the hotel/convention centre was delayed by the usual hustle and bustle, the N. Korean government officials were furious, and lodged a complaint. They beleived that the South had ordered every car in S. Korea onto the roads between the airport and the city, just to piss them off. They could not be convinced that everyone in the South had a car, and could actually go where they wanted. Seems that Kim jr. is just about the only N. Korean to ever leave the country - and that's usually in train with the windows covered.
