When KRY files for arbitration they will abandon the property to cut down the burn rate of cash.

Chavez will then move in the army. He'll be able to tell the majority of voters (i.e. the poor) he has driven the capitalist pigs off Las Cristinas and now the tons of gold will help fund the glorious Bolivarian revolution. This is a huge political plus for Chavez and will be heavily played in the press and speeches.

Years down the road, IF KRY can get financing to fund arbitration, KRY will win some kind of settlement. Whether or not that settlement reaches beyond the bond holders is an unknown at this point. Whether Ven actually pays out the forced settlement is an unknown.

But what is known is that the Vennies will hear lots about KRY being kicked out, but very little about the arbitration award coming out of their treasury.

Short term win for Chavez, long term loss for Ven.
