Splits and numerous other things concerning a company, such as financing or refinancing, are announced well in advance of occurance. These are things that are considered as typical company business practices and do not impose a trading halt. Be assured, the current halt is not over something that might be considered as typical company business.
I cannot find any trading halts imposed over splits (regular or reverse) or over financing/refinancing. The last halt for KRY was when the permit was denied, for environmental reasons, on April 30, 2008, just after Market open. Within one hour (58 minutes), KRY issued a shareholder update.
