Oil and Energy Committee will discuss mining issues with Minister Jose Khan

The chairman of the Standing Committee on Energy and Oil, Deputy Luis Acuna, said this Thursday will be a meeting with the Minister of People's Power for Basic Industries and Mining, José Khan, to discuss the various cases of irregularities in extraction of minerals that have come to this legislative body.

According to Acuña, we need to unify the strategies of the State to combat illegal mining and stop the devastation of the ecosystems of various entities, such as Amazonas, Bolivar and Delta Amacuro.

In this regard, said that the Committee on Energy and Petroleum will study the particular case of Icabarú mining town located in the municipality Gran Sabana, Bolivar State, information presented at the meeting on Wednesday by Deputy Américo de Grazia (The Cause R).

In this small community in southern Bolivar state have been several complaints about the alleged eviction practiced by the military in the framework of the Caura, and on the reduced shipments of fuel, damage to natural resources, others.

Parliamentary recess

According to Deputy Luis Acuna, the Permanent Commission of Energy and Petroleum will take the parliamentary recess for the first legislative session, without members no longer perform their functions in each of the states they represent to the National Assembly.

"At this meeting we made a positive assessment of the work of the commission. We will be ready for any special meetings called to do. The planning of informational forums is pending, deputies are tasked with seeking support from the institutions to bring the logistics in each region, "he said.

He clarified that the assembly continue to evaluate the instruments of public consultation on the Draft Law on Rational and Efficient Use of Energy was approved on first reading.

On the other hand, Acuña said that this Thursday will also hold a meeting with the directors of Corpoelec and representatives of the Ministry of Popular Power for Energy and Petroleum to strengthen the discussion and the proposals to be included in the final document of the Law of Use Rational and Efficient Use of Energy.
