I'm assuming that what they are saying is that Penn called Hugo a while ago about getting them released. Don't know if it is true or not but I seriously doubt Iran would do anything they weren't already planning to do.

If the call from Penn took place and was the start of things then this just confirms how screwed up Hugo and VZ are.
