Here is a source for your question
Use GOOGLE and type in NORTEL class action lawsuit (A Canadian Company). I was a shareholder here. There are many forms to fill out. They can be filled out on line. I did not particpate because I actually made money on this stock. You must prove you lost money obviously. This stock at one time traded at over $100 a share. Went down to 10c Then split 1 for 10. etc, etc. Then went bankrupt. The CEO firstly walked out with a self payment of $2,000,000.
Very sad. Knew people personally that were shattered.
Long time ago but ( I MAY BE WRONG - Discuss but don't attack please) you turn over all your shares to litigating firm giving them the leverage necessary to fight on you behalf. This way too they are guaranteed payment if they win. They pay themselves first and You get the rest.
Also,
If you do not give up your shares you cannot participate in the outcome if successful of this group.
This is where I am not familiar with what happens to those who did not participate. Do we get anything? Or nothing. This is the part that bothers me.good luck to all
