I don't recall any tanker (this one Panamanian) with Vz oil seized in the past. By using foreign owned ships Vz has been able to ship oil without risk anywhere in the past.
Unless I am mistaken this is a first which means now the attempt to release this ship must go through the courts. If Vz fails to get this ship and creditors get the money out of it, it spells repercussions for many other tankers rented by Vz elegible for seizure.
This essentially limits where these boats may stop for a break in their travels across the seas. Friendly ports only please. Don't stop at Houston!
Hence I think the ship will be released eventually. We'll see. This is huge for creditors I think. The last resort for some.
