Short answer: Yes. Try it! Arguably a lot of what was written in those letters is just as fanciful. Would you like it if the judge read and responded to totally unsubstantiated letters from Tenor or Fung or VZ? The judge's clerk will handle filing the letters. The judge may not even be aware of them and really that is how justice is supposed to work, it is not just about following the law but also about being seen to follow the law (you know that "justice is blind" crazy idea).

If you want to communicate with the judge you must file a motion and your assertions should be in an affidavit (but beware of what you say under oath). This is law school 101.

I applaud the sentiment in the letters, particularly Adrianza, but neither have any standing in court. These letters from a human aspect are much better than the silly Gowling attempt, which was simply a cynical money grab, on a par with Fung (except his worked).
