1.- I did not understand how Gowlings planned to and could win the "race",
2.- It was not clear to me what the shareholders had to give up for Gowlings’ contingent services,
3.- I very rarely, if ever, bet on anything, and if I do, it is only when a) I know my “horse” quite well and b) I have thoroughly handicapped the competing horses.
Hence, I decided that it was best to keep a watch on the paddock, look closely at the horses' mouths and make sure the track was an even playing field to ensure that my horse was a clear winner by at least ten lengths.
