US government ruled in favor of Venezuela in Crystallex lawsuit against Citgo

Carlos Vecchio reported that the North American government positioned itself in favor of Venezuelan interests this Thursday in the lawsuit that Crystallex is carrying out against PDVSA's subsidiary Citgo . From the Interim Government of President Juan Guaidó, we continue to do everything possible to protect CITGO from the irresponsible debts left by the Chávez and Maduro regime.

Thanks to all our efforts, the US Government presented its position before the Delaware District Court Judge, which strengthens our defense of protecting CITGO against the Crystallex lawsuit.

He explained:

1. Written document presented by the US Government establishes that with the arrival of the Interim Government Juan Guaidó, CITGO remains as an independent and autonomous company of the Republic. Therefore, a Republic debt cannot be collected with Citgo assets.

2. In other words, the US Government respectfully asks the judge to refrain from ruling on any process of sale or auction of CITGO shares to pay Crystallex, protected by the fact that Citgo and the Venezuelan State are different legal figures. That is our main argument.

3. It is made clear that CITGO cannot be held responsible for the excesses carried out by the corrupt Maduro dictatorship, which irresponsibly generated more than $ 150 billion in criminal debt, with its back to the legitimate National Assembly of Venezuela and the people of #Venezuela.

4. Additionally, the US Government affirms before the Court that any decision against CITGO would benefit the corrupt Maduro dictatorship and would be contrary to the Gobt's joint interests. Interim of Venezuela and the Gov. from the USA.

5. They respectfully remind the Court that, even if there were a decision contrary to the aforementioned interests, it is indicated that an OFAC license will always be necessary to proceed with any sale of Citgo. In other words, protection over Citgo would continue.

These positions, on the eve of a new hearing, are of paramount importance and confirm that our policy and action for the protection of the assets of the Venezuelan people (CITGO, the most important) against the regime and its collaborators, have been correct.

He thanked the Donald Trump administration for the effort.
