The Venezuelan regional elections be conducted tentatively on November 23, 2008 [1] to elect State governors, mayors of municipalities and legislators known as Badly regional deputies of the state Legislative Councils, all charges will choose for the period 2008-2012. Will the 5 th regional elections taking place in Venezuela and the third since the 1999 Constitution. Among the mayors who are elected are the Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Caracas and the mayor of the District of Alto Apure with their respective town meetings. Candidates will be awarded in office to obtain a simple majority.
The only regional office not dislucirán in these elections will be the Parochial (political-administrative division of lesser rank of Venezuela), the government of the State of Amazonas and municipalities Carrizal of Miranda State, Nirgua of Yaracuy and Miranda State Trujillo.
In late February, the Comptroller General of the Republic announced the CNE a list [2] [3] disabled people who may not aspire to charge for the regional elections of 2008 on the basis of Article 105 of the Organic Law of the Comptroller General of the Republic and the National Fiscal Control System. [4] Among those disqualified are the candidate to the Caracas Metropolitan Mayor Leopoldo Lopez and the candidate to the governorates of Anzoategui and Miranda Denis Balza Rondón and Enrique Mendoza respectively, as well like other aspiring mayors including Oscar Perez, the latter said that he had no jurisdiction to suspend these because you can only implement Article 64 of the National Constitution. Lopez [5] for his part said that the measure does not affected because according to him can only be disabled through a final judgement issued by a court, the Venezuelan opposition considered the list as a represalía policy against this sector, however, he pointed out that this list also included people linked to officialdom [6].
