Venezuela is known as the country with the cheapest gasoline in the world. While in the United States, Alaska became the first state where a gallon of gasoline is over US $4.00 or US $1.06 per liter, and up to US $2.50 are paid for the same liter in Europe, in Venezuela, one liter of the most expensive gasoline costs USD $0.04. For ten years, there has been no increase in the gasoline final price in Venezuela. The huge economic benefit granted to Venezuelan drivers by the long-term freezing of gasoline prices results in distortions which are harder to solve.
