Saturday, 04 of 2009 July

Supposedly not to update his data before Conatel in the period stipulated for it, the Government will retire the concessions to 240 radio transmitters in all the country, to which he called to stop his transmissions immediately. Minister of the Popular Power for Public Works and Vivienda, Diosdado Hair, announced that they will abrirán administrative procedures, they will seize equipment and sanction those who continues making use of the radioelectric phantom without the respective permission. The Venezuelan Camera of the Broadcasting, in the person of its president, exhorted to Conatel to have a discussion to solve the problems.

Caracas. - Minister for Public Works and Vivienda, Diosdado Hair, announced Friday that the government will retire the concession to 240 radio transmitters, a measurement that implies the immediate cease of its transmissions.

Hair declared that the recovery on the part of the State remembered “all those concessions”, by means of which operate 86 radios of A.M. and 154 of FM because they did not update his data before the National Commission of Telecommunications (Conatel).

“I recommend to Him to that they have his transmitters leaving in these frequencies that extinguish their equipment in one go because we are going abrir the administrative procedures, and that takes seizure of the equipment, it takes to sanctions for which are making use of the radioelectric phantom without being properly authorized in Conatel”, indicated.

The government initiated in June the process of update of data of the radio transmitters and television transmitters and asked to the average premises to go before Conatel to give the information required by law. The period of information reception, that it extended by weeks, concluded the 23 of June.

They ask to have a discussion
The president of the Venezuelan Camera of the Broadcasting, Nelson Belfort, exhorted to Conatel abrir itself to the dialogue with the broadcasters.

Belfort insisted “to seat to us, to talk, that solves the problems that we ourself we have wanted to solve, that we have raised the alternatives, that we have raised the forms to solve it and now they return to us to say that we are those that we do not want to solve it”.

For Belfort in the country more spaces for the telecommunications are needed and that abran new concessions “and not so that radio stations are closed because possibly anybody has not been able to complete a census, with a census it is not possible to be revoked, and it is not possible to be said to him to the people who because she did not appear are going to lose a concession”.

“You can have a sanction, but not revoke a concession because there are other mechanisms for concession revocation that they do not have to do with that”.

It remembered that Conatel has talked with the Camera in these ten years of present government, and the regulating being has seven years of delays to transform the qualifications of the concessionaires of transmitters. (AP/Unión Radio)
