A meeting to be held next Friday between Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos and his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chávez was rescheduled for next week at the request of the Venezuelan government, Colombian Minister of Foreign Affairs María Ángela Holguín reported on Tuesday.

"Venezuela has asked us to postpone the meeting for one week. President Chávez has been outside Venezuela for ten days in an international tour. We perfectly understand it. We await the new date for the meeting, which will be next week," Holguín told reporters during the XII Tuxtla Summit held in Cartagena, AFP quoted.

Last Monday, President Santos reported on a meeting with Chávez on October 29 in Venezuela.

The presidential meeting is aimed following up the progress made in restoration of diplomatic relations of both countries; relations were resumed last August 10 during a summit between Santos and Chávez in the Colombian city of Santa Marta.
