Dia Bras Drills More High-Grade Silver Mineralization at Its Cusi Project

10:30 EST Thursday, February 04, 2010

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 4, 2010) - Dia Bras Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DIB) is pleased to announce more results from exploration drilling at the Santa Eduviges mine of Dia Bras' Cusi property, which is being conducted to support the pilot-mining of this deposit that began in early October, 2009. Drilling of the San Antonio and San Antonio A veins (San Antonio map: ) of the Santa Eduviges vein system is oriented towards identifying blocks that will be pilot-mined during 2010.http://www.diabras.com/en/newscenter/2010/sanantoniomap_feb4_2010.pdf

The Veta del Contacto vein is part of the Promontorio vein system (Veta del Contacto map: ), and drilling is designed to identify areas that will be developed during 2010 and pilot-mined in 2011.http://www.diabras.com/en/newscenter/2010/vetadelcontactomap_feb4_2010.pdf

The Santa Eduviges-San Antonio-Santa Marina sector consists of multiple fracture-filled, quartz-carbonate veins containing high amounts of sulfide minerals that are typical of the middle portion (intermediate Pb, Zn, Cu) of the Ag zone in a zoned, low-sulfidation, epithermal vein system. This middle portion of the vein transitions upwards to the precious metal (Au, Ag) portion of the vein.

Dr. Thomas L. Robyn, Director and Head of Exploration for the Corporation, stated "Preliminary exploration results are very promising not only because of the high grades encountered but also because we have discovered another vein, which is in the hanging wall of Veta del Contacto. This demonstrates that, as we continue exploration, we can expect to discover additional veins in the immediate mine area, as we did with the San Antonio A vein." (Please see Dia Bras' News Release of September 28, 2009.)

Pilot Mining The objective of pilot-mining of the Cusi deposit is to obtain factual information on the metallurgy of silver, lead and zinc mineralization, recovery rates, per tonne revenues at various commodity prices, mining costs and other factors. This information is essential for evaluation of the property's economic potential.

During the fourth quarter of 2009, 3,945 tonnes of rock from the Santa Eduviges mine were milled at the Corporation's Malpaso mill, with an average grade of 284 g/t silver, 0.62% lead, and 1.57% zinc. Recovery of silver by flotation method averaged 65.28%. The mill tailings were fed to the Malpaso mill's new vat leach circuits for further processing. Metallurgical testing indicates an additional 15-20% recovery of silver will be obtained (please see Dia Bras' News Release of June 10, 2009). One dore bar was produced during December (please see Dia Bras' News Release of December 17, 2009).

During January, 2010, 1,109 tonnes of rock from Santa Eduviges were milled at Malpaso, with an average grade of 321 g/t silver, 0.56% lead and 2.29% zinc. Recovery of silver by flotation method was 62.99%, and the mill tailings were fed to the vat leach circuits for further processing. An additional four dore bars were produced during January, which contain 1,465 ounces of silver.

43-101 Update

Dia Bras has commissioned Geostat (SGS Canada, Inc.) of Montreal, Quebec, to update the resource calculation for the Cusi project that Geostat completed in May, 2008 (please see Dia Bras' News Release of May 1, 2008). This calculation resulted in 2.12 million ounces of AgEq in the Measured plus Indicated categories and 14.6 million ounces of AgEq in the Inferred category for Santa Eduviges and Promontorio. A site visit by Geostat personnel is scheduled for mid-February as part of the update.

Method of analysis

Samples sent for analysis are prepared by the ALS Chemex sample preparation laboratory in Chihuahua, Mexico, and assayed for Au by 50 g fire assay with AA finish, and for Ag by AA on 50 g split sample at the ALS Chemex North Vancouver Laboratory. Assays for Pb, Zn and Cu are done by Induction Coupled Plasma (ICP) at ALS Chemex.

Quality control

The quality assurance-quality control (QA-QC) of Dia Bras has been described in detail in both RPA's NI 43-101 reports of December, 2006, at Cusi and October, 2005, for Bolivar.

The technical content of this news release has been approved by Thomas L. Robyn, Ph.D., RPG, CPG and Director of Dia Bras, a Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101.
