Diamonds North Resources Ltd.: Diamond Results for Tuktu & Qavvik Kimberlites
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 24, 2009) - Diamonds North Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:DDN) reports diamond results for Tuktu-1, 2 & 3 and Qavvik-4, 5 & 6 kimberlites on its 100% owned Amaruk property in the Pelly Bay Diamond District of Nunavut. Results for 11 drill core samples from Tuktu-1, 2 & 3 and 6 drill core samples from Qavvik-4, 5 & 6 have yielded a total of 576 diamonds above the 0.5mm sieve.

The largest stones recovered from the relatively small mini-bulk samples remain on the 1.18mm sieve with the largest weighing 0.04 carats. Based on these results, the grades of the Tuktu and Qavvik kimberlite samples are inferred to be less than 0.1 ct per tonne (see table below). Considering the diamond size distribution and grade of Tuktu-1, 2 & 3 and Qavvik-4, 5 & 6 the company plans no further work on these kimberlites with the exception of quality control testing.

Due to the generally high microdiamond content of Amaruk kimberlites the Company will continue focusing its exploration efforts on locating richer kimberlites on this large property. So far, the company has tested only a small number of kimberlites on this property with hundreds of targets remaining to be tested. It is note worthy that approximately 150 kimberlites were discovered at the Ekati Diamond Mine and only 8 of those kimberlites were deemed economic.

Diamond results for 7 kimberlites discovered in 2008 are pending.

The Company is well financed (over C$5 million in the Treasury) and has adopted low cost exploration techniques that are highly effective for kimberlite discovery. Exploration has been focused on the north western part of the property and will now focus on the southern and eastern portions of the property where 100's of targets remain to be tested. Going forward in 2009, the Company is planning to test up to 100 targets on the property.

The various samples represent different phases and different levels of these phases within the kimberlite bodies. The total number of stones remaining on the 1.18mm screen is lower than the number observed in the samples processed by caustic fusion. The company suspects that this is the result of better liberation of diamonds through caustic fusion rather than crushing and dense media separation.

The drill core was logged in secure facilities at the Amaruk field camp by geoscientists. Samples were sealed with security tags and shipped to SGS Lakefield Laboratory for processing. The bulk sample material was sorted, weighed and crushed prior to processing. A diamond concentrate was produced using a 1 tonne per hour Bateman Dense Media Separation plant with a 0.5mm screen size cut-off. Kimberlite concentrates from DMS processing were shipped in secure containers to Saskatchewan Research Council Laboratory (SRC) in Saskatoon for grease table sorting and diamond picking. SRC is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada to the ISO/IEC Guide 25 standard for specific registered tests. As part of an ongoing Quality Control & Quality Assurance program, Diamonds North will conduct reviews and audits of results.

Bruce Kienlen (P.Geol) and Graham Gill (P. Geo) are Diamonds North's qualified persons reviewing these projects. They are responsible for the design and conduct of the exploration programs and the verification and quality assurance of analytical results.

Diamonds North Resources is focused on discovering Canada's next diamond mine. The Company is rapidly evolving and committed to building long-term value through ongoing diamond discoveries.
