I believe it is all relative, Toyota believes ultimately the future is in hydrogen fuel cells but there is no doubt that batteries will be around for many years. They are very involved in R&D for batteries including lithium-air. Everybody is looking for cheap efficient batteries and if Toyota found a company that produced batteries they liked they would most certainly invest in them. If you look at Electrovaya's recent presentation the slide on their cost to produce the batteries is very competetive, they are quoting prices that many analysts said we would not reach for years. I think this is one of the big reasons for the interest in electrovaya lately.
