As already known, Daimler decided to close its Li Tec facility in Kamenz, Germany. But now also the info emerged that Daimler partnered with LG Chem for its future battery supply. According to an article from Manager Magazin (in German) the Deutsche Accumotive will also recieve more than 100mm additional funding over the course of the next years. In mid 2015 also a new production facility in Kamenz will be ready for production. Due to the relatively small demand within the automotive segment, Daimler also wants to supply other energy storage application, such as grid storage and solar-battery applications.
