It's still happening today. Small sells and a large buy.

If I was a large corporation that needed to buy 7.5 million shares on the open market, I would contract with a company that had a computer program to do just what we are seeing. It executes automatically to get the lowst price buy.

I would think the low priced shares would have dried up by now. Someone must have a bunch. Maybe the market maker??
