Well they have never been ahead in the battery world. They chose to use the cylindrical cell because it existed and the factory producing them was about to shut down because the could not compete.

I really expected them to use the new pouched cell (at least 100AH) for storage and their new cars. Maybe that is why the new cars have been dellayed....maybe they are waiting on the battery..
