An interesting arrangement. I'm sure that a company like Tesla is looking in many places for improved technology, and a deal with Dalhousie could give them cheap access/first dibs on cutting edge research. From a financial perspective, a small investment now could reap huge benefits if the research pans out. Beats buying technology from an existing company, who will charge more or want a bigger cut of Tesla's future profits.
