Mercedes-Benz has recently announced its plans, to manufacture pure Electric Vehicle to rival Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA). German manufacturer are planning pure EV with the range of 311 miles. “Sure, sometimes even we are working on an intelligent concept for a highly attractive electric vehicle with 400 to 500 km range (249 – 311 miles).” said Thomas Weber, Chief Development Officer at Daimler.

This is a luxury model due out as a 2018 model. They should start production mid 2017. Electrovaya has a good shot at being the battery supplier. That would give them time to finish testing and have everything in order.

That is why Electrovaya said they were going to sell to Industrial and storage first and automotive down the road. That is the reason Daimler kept a functional R&D lab. Daimler intends to build their own battery packs from supplied cells.
